The approved 289 Central Avenue development is set to bring a major new mixed-use project to Newark’s fast-growing University Heights neighborhood. Designed by MVMK Architecture, the 14-story building will feature 234 residential units, ground-floor retail space, and parking for 99 vehicles at the corner of Central Avenue and Norfolk Street near the Newark Light Rail. The project is expected to add significant density and modern housing to the area while continuing the transformation of the Central Avenue corridor into one of Newark’s fastest-growing development zones.
